Great to see this component in development again. Mighty fine job you've done so far.  Wink

A feature I would give my right arm for to see added is the ability to assign Categories to an ACL.
e.g. I'd like unregistered user to see only public assigned Categories. While logged in users would obviously see the events given the ACL of 'Registered'

Keep up the great work..

hmm.. how do i make certain categories private or public? i'm checking out the category manager right now and when i click on a category the only options i see are:

Category Name
Category Description
Color
Status

 Huh

I'd want certain events to be seen by anyone on the website and others seen only by registered users that are logged in  Huh

i hope i'm making sense here, i'm a newbie  Undecided

What version are you using? IF you don't see the catID listed, you must have an old version i think. Also, what is your default Joomla language?

If you have the most recent version, open a category for editing to change the permissions.

I have Joomla! 1.0.12 and JCalPro 1.5.1.1, and the permissions are in the category manager section. I have not yet tested them for functionality.

hmm this is weird... i checked out the components installed and the Jcal Pro says it's version 1.5.1.1 but when i try to edit a category, there's a line on the bottom that says "Powered by JCal Pro Calendar  1.0"  Huh

Hi,
I have the same problem. I changed from 1.5.0.1 to 1.5.1.1. and in the last version, I could give permissions to the categories (well - it doesn´t work - but I could do it) and now, there is no  possibility to change permissions. Also I see 1.0 under the  cat tool. I´m using Joomla 1.0.12.

Could there be the problems, because of the old events in the database ?

OK - I tasted a new installation in another joomla installation and there it works (the cat permission field is shown and it really works). So it depends to the old events in the database. Do you think there is a possibility to save the old events or do I have to delete all events and the whole component ? Well I delete the component for the new version, so I don´t know if it really works or if I should change somethink in the database (sql).
In the working installation there is also under the cat tool 1.0 shown.

Here I´m again.

..and I got a solution. After I delete     jcalpro_categories and jcalpro_config from the sql datasource and installed the JCal component again, the permissions will be shown and you don´t have to delete your events.  Roll Eyes

DHEUSER - Sounds a lot like the suggestion that I would have posted, but you beat me to it. Great job! If anyone is going to work on their DB, PLEASE first backup your DB, then use phpMyAdmin, or your tool of choice, and changes should be simple.
