www.communityracingchallenge.com

Works fine in IE7 and FF.

This is not a fundamental problem with minical, since it is able to display in IE6 without errors ... for example:

http://communityracingchallenge.com/index.php?option=com_jcalpro

However, I get mixed results ... sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Very strange.

We have fixed a number of problems related to Itemid's, so make sure you have the latest mod_minical and com_jcalpro installed.

Then, I notice that you do not have a JCalPro menu item defined. This is one bug we have been chasing, and perhaps we have not completely resolved it.

Could you create a menu item for the calendar and let us know if this helps? It would really help our troubleshooting if you could do this.

Actually, I see a number of issues with the required JavaScript code that should be included by "com_jcalpro/themes/xxxxx/template.html" on your site. It is simply wrong and generating errors.

Try saving a copy of that file, then copying "template.html" from the default theme directory. Depending on what the Sporticus theme does with this file, you may need to manually review and merge the two.

I added an event...  it didn't help in IE.

Not sure what direction to go in the whole merge experiment, your talking over my head there.

The JCalPro calendar has it's own theme, which is different than your Joomla template. The JCalPro theme you are using has an old "theme.html" file which is including incorrect Javascript code into your page, causing a number of errors.

Can you go to the JCalPro settings in the Administrator menus and make sure you are using the default theme? If you are already using the default JCalPro theme, then it needs to be updated, since the code it is inserting is bad.

It is using the default theme.

I just downloaded this module from your site only 3 days ago, so I assume its the most up to date.

I also downloaded the spartan theme..  installed it..  and set it as default.

Still getting same error in IE.

Have you tried it on another computer?

You definitely have outdated Javascript code in your Spartan theme file. This is contributing to your problems, if not being the complete cause of them. Please try the following.

Copy this file:

/components/com_jcalpro/themes/default/template.html

To this location:

/components/com_jcalpro/themes/spartan/template.html

Please reply to let us know, as I would like to take another look once this is done.

Apparently, this is not a minical issue. The main page of your site is crashing IE6 and you do not have the minical published.

How about Latest Events? Could you try to un-publish it and see if IE6 can render the page without crashing?

Okay..  I unpublished the latest events, but I don't think that's it..  I was able to bring the site up with latest events on.  Its only when mini-cal is on that I can't bring the site up.

My experience with your site has been mixed, and I'm getting different results than you. For example, earlier tonight, IE6 was crashing consistently without minical published. You will probably need to do some methodical testing to make sure you are getting consistently results and accurately identify the failing component.

For example, right now IE6 is working fine with no minical or latest events published. Try publishing latest events again, then test it with IE6 by reloading the page a few times. Earlier tonight, this was crashing consistently for me with IE6.

If you are satisfied that the latest events module it is not going to break, publish the minical and see what happens. We need to change one thing at a time and test to try to narrow this down to something consistent and repeatable. I'd be happy to test from here, as well ... I'd actually like to see you publish the latest events to see if it will load without crashing for me.

I would also suggest changing the JCalPro themes and main Joomla templates temporarily to rule out any incompatibilities with them. You are also using JavaScript image slideshows, Slimbox, Mootools, and LiveSearch ... any one of those could also have some leverl of incompatibility with these modules.

JCalPro and the minical and latest events modules are working fine for you with FF and IE7, and they do work with IE6 on other sites. There is something unique about your server or templates or some other feature that one of these JCalPro modules is struggling to co-exist with. It is also something subtle that is proving very difficult to isolate.

Another thing to try ... edit "template.html" in your theme directory. Find the "init" function at line 12 and change it from this:

Code:
function init() {

  if (document.Event) {
    if (document.captureEvents){
      document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEMOVE);

    }
  }
  document.onmousemove = getXY;
}

To this:

Code:
function init() {

  if (document.Event) {
    if (document.captureEvents){
      document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEMOVE);
          document.onmousemove = getXY;
    }
  }
}

This may have an effect on your problem, but it will clean up some further JavaScript errors I am seeing on your site.

This change has been added to the forthcoming release candidates of com_jcalpro and theme_jcalpro_spartan, v1.5.2.
