Hi,

I just uploaded JCal Pro to my site. But as I want to go to Edit Settings, I get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /mounted-storage/home24b/sub001/sc22366-VDMF/www/components/com_jcalpro/languages/danish/index.php on line 402

which means I can't do anything to JCal?

Any Ideas?

If you take a look at line 402 of "languages/danish/index.php", there are some strange line-ending characters. If you could just edit that area of this file to remove them, this should work for you.

I have attached to this post a Zip file that has this editing done for you. (There were actually numerous occurrences elsewhere). If you want, you can just copy this to your site, as follows:

SAVE YOUR OLD COPY OF THE FILE, IN CASE THIS DOESN'T WORK WELL.

Copy "index.php" from the attached Zip to:

"components/com_jcalpro/languages/danish/index.php"

This has been added to the forthcoming release candidate com_jcalpro v1.5.2.

I had the same problem earlier in line 402. I downloaded 1.5.2 and now I get the same error message but now in line 353.

Is it possible to solve? Or is there a general problem with this language file?

Yes, for some reason this particular language file has been troublesome, but I'm not sure why. All this means is that there are some stray hidden garbage or line ending characters outside of the quotes on that line, or the line above it, or the line below it.

Those lines should all be in this basic format:

  'xxxxxxxx' => 'xxxxxxxxxxxx',

All other characters should be removed. Depending on your editor, these garbage characters may not be visible, so deleting the blank space and line ending and re-entering them will probably correct the problem.

Wow ... this error reported on line 1 of the file is very strange. Can you take a look at that file, make sure there is nothing before the "<?php" and that the beginning looks like this:

This is inexplicable ... unless someone else can come up with another idea. If the file exists and looks pretty much like the text I copied into a previous post, I have no idea why this is happening.

So, I'm assuming something is wrong with the previous file, or your download of it. Care to try it again with the attached Zip file? Put this in "components/com_jcalpro/languages/danish/index.php". If at all possible, don't use an editor to paste this into the existing file ... upload it as a new file to your website.
