Please discuss the issue of JCal 1.6 development in this thread. The original details and explanation for the short delay are quoted below:

Given the overwhelming number of requests we have received, we are pleased to announce that we are currently working on a JCal Pro 1.5.x release that will run natively on Joomla! 1.5.x.

This release will not require the legacy plugin, and has been completely re-tooled to take advantage of the Joomla! 1.5 model-view-controller architecture.

We hope to release a beta version by the end of the month. As a result, development of Joomla 1.6.x has been delayed. There were simply too many issues to deal with both the new features AND Joomla! 1.5.x compatibility.

No date set, as in typical for GPL applications. We have a lot of new features in 1.6 as you know, and one major change to the database planned before we go hardcore on the bugs.

Yes, we are planning a release of JCal 1.5.x which runs natively on Joomla 1.5.x.

I just noticed on the Joomla extensions list that JCal is shown as being updated 1 day ago -- but I can't find anything on this site about it. Is this anything of relevance?

Am up against a deadline to complete my first J1.5 site by the end of the month. I prefer using JCal; v1.5 would fine once it's J1.5 compatible. So any info you can provide on your progress would be appreciated!

I just updated the entry to indicate the legacy option.
