I'm sure you realize that we don't track when people's subscriptions expire.

And this happens all the time with commodities. You buy a computer in November, and then it goes on sale for X-mas.

V-man / Anything-Digital:

I commend you for taking on the subscription business model for JCalPro, as it has improved features and functionality of the best Joomla events calendar application and provided some return on your investment of time and money. Considering other events and calendar components for Joomla, which are nowhere near as feature and functions rich, and also considering the extraordinary price other standalone applications that exist out there, the newest $20 one subscription fee is extremely inexpensive, far more feature rich on its own merits and particularly far more extensible through the Joomla CMS framework. Not only has this component improved Joomla but also my own projects and others as well. In the past, prior to the subscription model, you were always dedicated to the project and its improvement and very giving of your your personal time to others who freely used the component.

Now that it's time to upgrade to Joomla 1.5, it's time for me to subscribe, and I do so with great gratitude.

Thank you.

P.S. Are you still running SMF JoomlaHacks Joomla Bridge on Joomla 1.0.X? Are you planning on upgrading to Joomla 1.5 and SMF SJSB Bridge (http://code.google.com/p/sjsb/ / http://www.youpokeme.com/sjsb)? It works great, installs easily and upgrades just as fast!

Yes, we are updating the pages at the moment, and have not had time to post the announcement. Sorry about the unexpected change.

But to be clear, the GPL license for JCal Pro guarantees 'free as in freedom', not 'free as in beer'.

Since almost noone donates to this project (and thanks to those that have), we decided to try a pay-for-download model.

I think the price is fair, I hope you agree.

Thanks for the kind words. We are working very hard on JCal ... I'm glad it shows.

Thanks for the links also. Do you think sjsb will do integration with JomSocial and CB?

Yes. There is a move toward integration with other applications, specifically Community Builder and JoomUnity. While I have seen references to JomSocial, I was unable to find the page.

COMMUNITY BUILDER
http://code.google.com/p/sjsb/issues/detail?id=13&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Priority%20Milestone%20Owner%20Summary%20Modified%20Reporter%20Stars

JOOMUNITY
http://code.google.com/p/sjsb/issues/detail?id=55&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Priority%20Milestone%20Owner%20Summary%20Modified%20Reporter%20Stars

It seems the primary focus for the project is on greater Joomla SEF and sh404SEF compatibility as well the release of a stable version. At that time, perhaps you can begin to consider migration from J1.0 to J1.5, which is no fun for any site, especially a larger one that is working well.

Hopefully I'll be able to make it out to Joomla Day Las Vegas and met up with you guys. It's around the time we plan on doing some camping along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and cover an off-road race. So, it may happen.

I think $20 is more than fair. It's probably not worth A LOT more than that (for most of my needs, a simple list of events is fine), but $20 is a great deal. I'm happy to pay and very thankful for the quality of Jcalpro over some of the other choices.

Frankly I can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with paying for someone's hard work they are benefiting from. So what if they offered it for free once upon a time. Why should you expect good things to always keep falling from the sky? I say if there's a party enjoy it while it lasts, but don't complain when the refreshments run dry if you aren't willing to help go to the store.

I just wanted to add to this thread just having purchased JCal Pro...

Once you purchase it, and use it for 5 minutes, you will soon realize just how much of a bargain this product really is. It's install and config was a breeze. And it simply has features not found in other components/modules (at least in my experience)

Having had to switch from Thyme to Jcal Pro in a hurry, we've been extremely impressed. It really saved us in a pinch!

Highly recommended.

Glad it's working out for you.

Remember, if you use JCal Pro, please leave a review at the Joomla Extensions Directory.
