OK Thanks.
This is definitely a forerunner to private calendars. I mean once you're able to create multiple calendars via admin while using the same db tables. Then it should be hopefully simple to have a calendar for each user created automatically. The name for the calendars would therefore be replaced by the user-name in the tables.
Any thoughts on this anyone?
Cheers, Rasheed

It's true that "Multiple Calendars" can be seen as one of the steps toward private calendars. But today, I don't have time and need to implement such feature. I think my next goal will be to have "Multiple Calendars" integrated into the official JCal Pro.

I agree you should only tackle one thing at time. I only threw that last one out there to get some feedback as far as feasibility is concerned.
Thanks again!

I would almost give anything to have multiple calendars. I'm doing a site right now where several different committees and organizations are going to use the same site and EACH of them want their own calendar.
I've been pilfering through the code of JCal to change it just enough so that it would install as a separate component. Then I could just install multiple instances of JCal and name them accordingly for each organization. But it's been a big pain in the crack.
What's that? An upgrade? Awe crap!

I've set up quickly a demo website featuring the "Multiple Calendars Edition" of JCal Pro, where you can also download this JCal Pro modified version : http://sylvain.saca2.net/projects/jcalpro-multiple-calendars/To tell the modules to link to a specific menu itemid, don't forget to use the "Specific Itemid" parameters. If you don't, links in your module will point to the latest JCal Pro menu item you created, because this is the default behaviour. Many thanks to borisgoodenough who helped in testing. V-man, if you can have a look to see if you'll integrate it in the official JCal Pro...I'd really like to !

Looks interesting. I'd like to evaluate this further. If possible, please IM an administrative login so i can peek at the backend.
Great work BTW.
EDIT: Installed the com and mods, looks pretty tight. We have some work before we integrate this, since we have already made lots of JCal Pro changes since the stable. We'll evaluate the changes for security and other in-house coding 'best practices', and try to get this mod into the next release.

@V-man : if you installed the component, I guess you don't need an administrative login anymore. Glad to see you are looking forward to integrate my modifications. Most of the code was inspired from the categories management. Anyway, I should warn you of several things if you didn't figure it yet : - In the backend, in calendars management page, the "description", "permissions" and "actived" options are not used
- This mod only works with english and french languages. Need some additions in other language files to work correctly.

THIS ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!!!!!!!! Wow... is this going to be in the 1.6 release??? I noticed a slight mention about it in the roadmap! Oh man.. I've been looking for this feature for almost a year and a half.
Thanks to everybody and their hard work to put all of this together, this is without a doubt the best calendar for Joomla.

Syldes,
I've gone to your site but have not downloaded the modified version yet. I would like to thank you for taking on this project as I was really looking to use something like this. On your site you don't have an email to email you and say thanks so I posted here. Try putting some kind of donation on your site so others can give to the cause man. My team has been really really really trying to figure out what we were going to do about organizations wanting their own calendar and I think this will help out a lot.

qneal78710, I didn't put my email on the demo website because I want this kind of discussion to happen on this forum thread. If someone would like to donate something, I advise to donate directly to the JCal Pro project or to the Joomla! project ( www.joomla.org), thanks.
