I have been trying to install jcalpro 2 onto my localhost site but wasnt able to. I already have 1.5.9 (build_384), installed. Firstly I tried to install by upload i just get a blank screen. Then by directory, but I get this error:
* Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "/Applications/MAMP/htdocs/*********/components/com_jcalpro" * Component Install: Another Component is already using directory: "/Applications/MAMP/htdocs/***********/administrator/components/com_jcalpro"
Joomla 1.5.8
Thanks for any help.

I have not updated the documentation yet (I should toddle off and do that) but jcal pro 1.5.x and 2.x share identical folder names (com_jcalpro). So technically they cannot be installed at the same time.
However, JCal Pro 2 uses a different set of tables in the DB. This means you can uninstall jcal pro 1.5 (which leaves the jcal data in the database). Then install jcal pro 2.x, and import your settings and events. If this works for you, you are done.
If JCal Pro 2.x is still too buggy for your site, just uninstall, and re-install 1.5.x. Your original settings and events will be there, untouched.

I have installed it ok. The setting changes I made didnt seem to save the first time through, but they are there now. Thing is, the items from the previous calender (1.5.9) has been imported in the back end, but don't show up in the calender in the front end. They are in event manager, published and approved. But nothing is shown in the actual calender. Any help much appreciated.

This may be a category issue. Check to see if the events are in a specific category.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure in what way. Everything looks normal. There are a few categories, all are published, and the events are within these categories.
Wierd. I have also made a new event and category to see, and nothing shows.

I would really like to use this version, I just cannot figure why no events are showing in monthly view, daily view, flat view nor weekly view. The only way they show is in category view.
There must be a simple explanation.
Thanks
