Title: Filter on frontpage Post by: combicart on March 12, 2010, 03:01:55 AM Is it possible to filter sessions on the frontpage?
E.g. we have 5 days, with 5 different activities and for each activity we have 10 timeslots. In total we have 250 (5days, 5 activities and 10 timeslots). Is there a possibilty to show on the frontpage only the five days and when they choose a day, they can choose the activity and finally they can pick a timeslot? Welcome to the forum. Short answer: No, there is no filtering in the front end. Longer answer: I'm torn between two schools of thought. a) RSVP is a great and simple event registration package and from that point of view this might start to make it a bit too complex for the user as all sessions are shown in simple date order. If you have "too many" showing you can unpublish some till you feel it is more suitable. Anyway not sure I totally hold this view so ... b) I've sure this is something that could be achieved by customising the code. Although I've never used them I understand "Open Source Matters" are good for doing this sort of thing. :) Or if you have some skills I can look to giving you some initial kickoff steps? Thanks for your answer! Is it possible that you give me a push to the right direction. Perhaps I could customize the code myself. Thanks! Title: Re: Filter on frontpage Post by: silslendir on March 17, 2010, 02:27:29 PM OK I have a day off on Thursday so will look at this then :)
Title: Re: Filter on frontpage Post by: silslendir on March 18, 2010, 09:46:00 AM Sorry combicart.
I've looked at what you want and the code then compared it with my programming skills and found it is above my skill level (In my web design company (not A-D) my main role is not programmer I'm afraid). I've sure you already looked at function viewSession in illbethere.html.php. But I can't think of another Joomla module that I could just strip the code from to make it perform the multiple drop down box selection procedure. If enough people felt it was important I'm sure we could look to add it to the future feature request list. I would also feel that a more simplistic filter box method might get more interest. What do the community feel, are either filter styles features widely wanted?
