Yeah I agree, its more about the working and not to have the most perfect URL. The thing is, if you missed it, sh404SEF is NOT working as it should on older php versions.

So instead of talking around it, please fix the problem because people pay money for the product and no information is given that you need the latest php version.

Never mind, my problem is solved and hope the next update helps everyone.

No my friend, sh404SEF 1.5 for Joomla 1.5 had for me the best results on php 5.2.x servers. I will update my signature with my best results environment for sh404SEF.

Nice day to you, and I am glad I could help you.

Before reporting any issue, please check your development environment and write them along with your report (sh404SEF version, php version of your server, Joomla! version, Virtuemart or any other content extension version).

404 error? - check $live_site config
sh404SEF minimum server requirement php 5.2

My best results using sh404SEF were using php 5.2.6-5.2.9.

ahh ok sorry, I see I misunderstood! All the people on the forum complaining about the bugs and errors have nothing to do with it. Because you test it on your way and that makes it a perfect product.

Nothing personal but really, if you sell a product it should work, if not you can get your money back. This product just have errors and bugs, that is ok if the software is freeware or when people respect the input of users to improve the product. You just like to make 50 posts in 3 days but the real thing is you not listen to the to people with the problem.

So ones more: sh404SEF is not working perfectly with changing from page 2 to page 1. If this is my fault of the settings, edit the setting so I can't make this error, or just fix the problem.

You can have a high function on the forum but you status is still newbie as we can see out of your posts. Thanks for all the useful stuff you posted and you also have a nice day! Good luck with the next 50 posts!

You are right on this: sh404SEF should work. As I said, there are a lot of php servers, a lot of hosting problems we have to deal everyday. There are a lot of other extensions either, but what I have tested, all have problems, some of them don't offer metadata management support and other important features.

I think to make sh404SEF work perfect on all php server versions, we should pay more coders, make dedicated sh404SEF versions for them all! But you can imagine price will increase considerably, and it is not the best road to follow. You should experience, learn, do it yourself, and perfectly addapt this sh404SEF version to suit your need.

BUT above all that: Joomla 1.6 is coming fast, most of the components go MVC, including Virtuemart, and the code will be mostly php > 5.2.x, and will eliminate a lot of problems. So in this case, sh404SEF will be rewriten again! That is for sure.

Danny

Danny, thank you for your replies.

In one of your earlier post (Post #10) you mentioned a possible workaround dealing with page limits.  If I want to try to see if that would work for me how would I set this up to work as you described?

Keep up the good work.

Sure mate, if it is related to Virtuemart read this post here
http://dev.anything-digital.com/Forum/?topic=5780.msg23015#msg23015

That user was satisfied with this solution and I hope would help you as well.

If you haven't purged your URLs, the code modification has no effect but the pages you haven't browsed yet.

Generally the plugin works only the first time when you browse pages after you purged the cache. So your new URSs are created after you purge the old ones, because sh404SEF does not overwrite them.

I cleared the url's.

It introduces a different problem.

When I am on page 1 and click next it goes to:
...View-all-products.html
When I click next it goes to
...View-all-products/Page-2/Page-2.html
While on page 2 and click next to go to the third page it stays and shows
...View-all-products/Page-2/Page-3.html
Once here I click prev and the URL now shows
...View-all-products/Page-2.html?limitstart=0

You see? It is not working for you, but it worked for others. That is the point. Please revert back to your initial code, and we will provide a fix as son as possible.

To fix this issue, someone else has already suggested to rename one of the two URLs that corresponds to the first page. I'd like to suggest a similar but maybe simpler solution, which is to use sh404SEF "Duplicate URL" function to set the "right" URL as the main one.

So when i have two URLs:

index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1&category_id=5&page=shop.browse

index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1&category_id=5&limit=30&limitstart=0&page=shop.browse

i just set the second one (with limit and limitstart specified) as the main one. So far, it's worked for me on many different sites. Obviously is quite a manual workaround.

With the next release you won't need this workaround, it will do "it" automatically. We have to make a lot of tests...

That's very good news. I appreciate your efforts and i DO understand that VirtueMart, while functionally a very nice product, is quite a mess from a developer point of view.

Hi All,

Exact same problem here...
In my case it happens when the limitbox is selected on '10'.
When I change it into 5 or 15,20 or so it doesn't happen.
For now I solved my problem by replacing all links with 'bekijk-alle-producten.html' by 'bekijk-alle-producten/Page-1-10.html'

Regards, Mirco
