Features, Screenshots & Demo |
The Advanced Search extension suite brings professional search features to the Joomla! platform for the first time. Advanced Search extends the power of the default Joomla search engine and gives you the ability to narrow your search results to specific content types such as categories, articles, events, etc...
Features
-
Content-specific search result filtering
-
Language-specific search result filtering (Joomfish-enabled sites only)
-
Dynamic detection/usage of searchable content types
-
SEO/SEF ready with built-in support for sh404sef
-
W3C XHTML 1.0 Transitional, W3C CSS Valid
-
Customizable display of searchable content types using CSS styles
- Custom search plugins for menu items and authors
- Specify search defaults such as minimum/maximum search string length and default search type (i.e. exact phrase)
-
The real power of Advanced Search lies in it's ability to dynamicly
accommodate new content types (called 'search mambots' or 'search
plugins') as they become available. Once a new search mambot/plugin is
installed and published it is immediatley detected and utilized by
Advanced Search. In addition, Advanced Search is a seperate component
from the default Joomla! search engine and thus no 'hacking' is
required for its use (unlike other customized search solutions for
Joomla!).

Demo
Advanced Search is running right now on this web site, simply follow the Advanced Search link in the Home menu above.
In addition to showcasing the component, the Search Selector module is loaded on the left column (labelled 'Advanced Search').
The Search module is positioned just below the search selector module and is labelled 'Forum Search'. In this case, the module is configured to search just the forum. You can see another copy of this search module on the JCal Client/Pro demo page (here it is labelled 'Find an Event' and is configured to search just the events).
